Finalizing Your Adoption

FINALIZING YOUR ADOPTION

The finalization process varies from state to state, and situation to situation. However, it will generally follow the regulations within the birth parents’ state. Before the adoption can be finalized, the adoptive parents must complete their post placement meetings. The number of meetings to be completed varies from state to state, and will be determined by the birth parents’ state. The adoptive parents are required to obtain their own legal counsel in order to finalize their adoption.
